Serving the Friends of Jesus!

Each month, InterVarsity partners with Peddie Church (a local church in Newark) to serve the friends of Jesus. The friends of Jesus are disenfranchised men and women who are homeless in the Downtown Newark area. Students serve by preparing and serving the evening meal, providing worship and a message of hope to all those that attend.

At our Thanksgiving 2007 partnership, InterVarsity had over 50 students come out to serve. InterVarsity friends included fraternities, soriorities, cultural clubs, religious clubs and the like. We invited all the students to partake in the worship service, many did. It was a great time to introduce Christianity to those who would have never attended church before. This great partnership has burdened our student leaders to continue building relationships with non-Christians on campus. We have already begun planning for partnership opportunities.
